Hindi ASR datasets
Spoken Hindi and spoken Urdu are close enough that a recording can be transcribed into either script, and that choice decides who can use the corpus. Devanagari output will not serve an Urdu model, and romanized Hindi (the form most chat and web text takes), matches neither. The convention has to be fixed before the first file is transcribed.
What ASR work in Hindi requires
Transcription convention, decided first
Whether to write what was said or what should have been said is the single biggest source of disagreement between annotators. For this language the two diverge often enough that the convention has to be explicit.
Speaker count over hours
Recognition models overfit to voices faster than to vocabulary. A dataset that is long but narrow will test well on held-out audio from the same speakers and fail on anyone new.
Noise that matches deployment
If the model will run on phone audio in a city, training on studio recordings creates a mismatch that no amount of additional clean data fixes.
The mistake that costs the most
The most common mistake is specifying hours without specifying speakers, and then discovering at evaluation time that the model only works on the people who were recorded.
The language-specific factor
Hindi and Urdu are mutually intelligible at the spoken level, but one is written in Devanagari and the other in Perso-Arabic script. Which script a recording is transcribed into directly determines whether the data can feed a model targeting Urdu.

Tell us the language, the hours, and what the data needs to look like. You will get a real number and a real timeline, not a range. If we cannot source it well, we will tell you that instead.
- Pilot batch before the full run, so problems surface early.
- Consent documentation delivered with the data.
- No medical or clinical data. No recorded telephone calls.
- You send the spec Language, hours, recording conditions, and the deadline.
