Indonesian Voice datasets

The same speaker sounds measurably different in Indonesian and in the regional language they switch into, which is enough to break a verification model that treats the two as one enrolment. Sessions are kept to one language each, and the language of the recording is a metadata field rather than an assumption.

What voice work in Indonesian requires

Enough utterances per speaker

Speaker modelling needs multiple recordings of each individual, not one recording each from many individuals. The per-speaker minimum is the number that constrains the project.

Channel consistency

A speaker recorded on two different microphones looks like two speakers to a verification model. Recording equipment has to be held constant within a speaker.

Consent that covers biometric use

Using a voice to identify a person is a different purpose from transcribing their speech, and the consent has to say so explicitly. This is the requirement most often missing.

The mistake that costs the most

The most common mistake is treating voice data as interchangeable with speech data and discovering during legal review that the consent does not cover biometric use.

The language-specific factor

In everyday speech, Indonesians mix in local languages (Javanese, Sundanese) and English loanwords heavily. Three language components inside a single sentence is normal, so word segmentation and annotation rules have to be fixed before collection begins.
