Vietnamese Voice datasets
Regional tone realization changes the acoustic signature enough that mixing regions inside one verification set produces false non-matches on genuine speakers. Region is recorded per speaker, and enrolment and test recordings for any one person come from the same region and the same equipment.
What voice work in Vietnamese requires
Enough utterances per speaker
Speaker modelling needs multiple recordings of each individual, not one recording each from many individuals. The per-speaker minimum is the number that constrains the project.
Channel consistency
A speaker recorded on two different microphones looks like two speakers to a verification model. Recording equipment has to be held constant within a speaker.
Consent that covers biometric use
Using a voice to identify a person is a different purpose from transcribing their speech, and the consent has to say so explicitly. This is the requirement most often missing.
The mistake that costs the most
The most common mistake is treating voice data as interchangeable with speech data and discovering during legal review that the consent does not cover biometric use.
The language-specific factor
Vietnamese has six tones, marked in writing by a heavy load of diacritics. The three major dialect regions (north, central, and south), realize tones quite differently, and mixing them in one batch gives the acoustic model contradictory tone cues.
